I understand that this particular page does not belong on a website about investing. However, this is for those individuals who do partake in trips to Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

I do not encourage anyone to gamble. It is a bad habit and one should stay away from it if they cannot control it.

That being said, let me tell you about something I discovered about 10 years ago.

My husband and I were in Las Vegas for 3 months. It was the beginning of the college football season and we were there to have fun and relax.

We began the college football season strong, making more than $400 the first weekend. Many people will chuckle at $400, but to two retired people, it is a nice gain.

We began to get into a routine everyday. The casinos had a steady stream of regulars that came in and left on a daily basis. And we began to mingle and get to know them. I guess you could say, we became one of the regulars.

It was on a wednesday, I was sitting in the same little casino several blocks off the strip, going over some statistics. I started figuring on paper. I looked around and it appeared that everyone else was doing the same thing.

I began looking at very specific stats of the two teams who would be playing the upcoming weekend. And then it happened. I accidently figured out how the experts in Las Vegas were setting lines. I went over game after game, to make sure I had it right. Sure enough, I was within 1 or 2 points of the line, everytime I figured.

I thought to myself, certainly the regulars who come in here have to be aware of what I just now found out. After all, I was a novice and they were professional gamblers.

I began to tell them what I had discovered. And everyone of them showed no interest. I asked them if they knew about the method I was using and everyone of them said no, and did not show any interest. My first reaction was, they are probably right, I am getting all excited over nothing.

College Football Saturday rolled around, and I had picked three early games using my method. According to my calculations there were 3 games that the lines was off 5 points or more.

I decided to bet them.

A clean sweep. All 3 games came in winners. I decided to figure for the next round of games. Once again I placed bets on the teams who were receiving the benefits of a line that was off. I had 2 out of 3 winners come in. The night games produced the same result, 2 out of 3. For the day I won 7 of 9 games.

I was very pleased with the results. I tried to share the method with some of our friends we had made, but none of them seemed interested.
